Dr Ben McArdle studied Medicine at the University of Queensland, before completing his Ear, Nose and Throat surgical training in some of Sydney’s most prestigious hospitals. His training included 18 months in Paediatric ENT spent at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and The Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick.
Following his graduation, he spent a further year studying complicated sinus surgery and anterior skull base surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada.
Ben works in both the public and private health systems at the Sunshine Coast University, Sunshine Coast University Private and Kawana Private Hospitals. He is the Director of the Sunshine Coast University ENT Department 2021 to present, roles he has shared with Evolve colleagues Dr Kristy Fraser-Kirk and Dr David Hogan.
When not busy changing nappies, Ben invests his time in improving ENT outcomes in developing communities. He volunteers as a surgeon in remote aboriginal communities in Queensland, and travels to perform ENT operations for Pacific Island communities in Micronesia. He also contributes to the ongoing growth of the ENT profession in his role of Clinical Examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
